"...Hits...", "Hot Hits" and "Chart Choice"
- spin-off singles
MFP launched their 7-inch range in 1970, and the series - which eventually stretched to more than a hundred releases - was marketed at children, and appeared on the specially created sub-label, Surprise Surprise. Slotting into the series at frequent intervals are singles pulled from MFP's hit covers albums, typically consisting of child-friendly pop songs such as "Sugar Sugar", "Two Little Boys" and "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing". (Unlike other UK budget labels, MFP went for conventional singles, with one song on either side.)
Early singles were numbered in order on the sleeves, and at some point, proper catalogue numbers were introduced as well, as shown below. These singles were not released in strict chronology and so they sometimes pull tracks from LPs which may have been issued some time earlier. The last one uses material from the late "Chart Choice" LP series.
Besides the children's discs, there was a short run of singles on the Double Top label, which appeared in 1972 and were based on the contents of "Hot Hits 9".
