Chart Busters (Here & Now) (1986 - 1987)

Ten years after Pye ceased issuing the “Chart Busters” albums, a new series appeared on the market with the same name, although they were most likely unreleated to the earlier albums. This series was issued on the Here & Now Productions label, about whom not much is known. They appear to be an independent north-London based label, whose activities may have gone no further than these five albums.

This new series began in 1986, at a time when the only other albums left in production were on the cassette format, but didn't catch on, grinding to a halt after just three issues. It was re-launched the following spring with more tracks per LP and more conventional covers featuring female models. However it quickly petered out again. (All of the albums were also released on cassette.)

Technically, these LPs are not anonymous; they are all credited to the Here & Now Band. However as Here & Now is also the label, they are effectively being billed under a corporate identity and so they qualify as successors to the LPs of old. (The Here & Now Band of course has no links with the 1970s act of that name, which featured former members of the group Gong.)
