Nonstop Top 20 (1971 - 1972)
The Plexium label was created by Gordon Lotinga, among other things an aspiring songwriter whose compositions would occasionally surface on singles and LPs released by the label. (One of his efforts, "We Can Make Funtime", found its way onto Nonstop Top 20 volume 10, below. Plexium also released it as a single by Tomorrow's Children, backed with another Lotinga track, "If It Could Be".)
This series was marketed as by Mike Morton, a well-known figure in the world of budget albums. It is the first of three released under his name (the extent of his personal involvement not always certain) and ran in parallel with the others, each of which has its own page here. The first two-thirds of the series has the tracks edited down and sequenced into medleys, with fake applause between the tracks to make a continuous – “nonstop” – musical cut.
Albums are credited to the Mike Morton Congregation. Volume 4 has the distinction of reaching number 35 in the UK album charts while budget albums were eligible.
