Hits Hits Hits (1984 - 1986)
While Chevron had gone up against "Now! That's What I Call Music" with their late series, "This Is Music", there was another successful LP series of original hits launched in 1984, in the shape of WEA's "The Hits Album". Chevron reacted by offering a challenge to this series as well - with the creation of "Hits Hits Hits" at year-end.
These cassettes were credited to LA Sounds, but of course were not intended to replace "This Is Music", but run alongside it. Consequently, "Hits Hits Hits" releases would alternate with "This Is Music" through 1985 and 1986, until "Hits Hits Hits" volume 4 brought the final curtain down on Chevron's hit covers albums.
