"Hits From England's Top 20" - overseas
One of the least documented UK series, and hence one of the more unlikely to be exported, "Hits From England's Top Twenty" in fact surfaced in a couple of overseas territories including, of all places, Singapore. And to further interest collectors, overseas editions appeared on vinyl...
Portgual
Pictured left is a Portgugese LP on the Alvorada label (who also issued material from MFP's "Hits" series there). This album is as per UK volume 13, but with the tracks shuffled into a new order. The album cover is of course brand new as well. The track sequence is as follows: Side 1: Can The Can / Rubber Bullets / The Groover / Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth) / Snoopy Vs The Red Baron / Welcome Home Side 2: Sweet Illusion / Born To Be With You / Can You Do It / Take Me To The Mardi Gras / Albatross / Live And Let Die The contents of this LP also match the UK albums, "Non Stop Hits" (RCA) volume 7, and "World Top 12" volume 43. |
Also pictured left is another Portgugese LP on the Alvorada label, catalogue number LP S-80-25. It was released in 1974 and corresponds to UK volume 15. (Unlike volume 13, above, there are no equivalents elsewhere - this is only a match for the "Hits From England's Top Twenty" album - in fact after the series had switched to just "Smash Hits".) We are not sure of the ordering of the tracks. Note the volume number on the front - volume 6, and just two installments on from the LP above, implying that one was volume 4. |
Singapore
These releases carry branding from the "Hits From England's Top Twenty" series, and so far as we know, usually include the same tracks. Somehow they equally match Mike Morton's RCA albums (where we also list them).
They were all issued on the Elastic label - in name and logo, very like the respected Elektra label.

Left is a vinyl EP. It is interesting to see the original artists named on the front! In terms of tracks, we cannot identify a parent album for three of the four songs, although that is likely due to the many gaps in our UK album listing. We do know that "Come What May" is from volume 6, and the other three would fall chronologically on the albums either side of it. It is catalogue numbered EE2, indicating that it might also have a predecessor. |
Yugoslavia
There is probably more to the Yugoslavia discography than we currently know. Below are details of a cassett editions we have come across...
